A Ghost Tried to Ruin My Dinner at a Previously Unhaunted Inn

Is the Lost Fox Inn in Litchfield, CT, full of phantasms… or just extra atmospheric?

There I was, dinner at the Lost Fox with my husband, when I swear, something walked behind Paul and… disappeared.

No staff around, just vintage footsteps creaking.

Brain tricks? Maybe. Or maybe the past is still hungry.

Of course I still finished my free-range Shepherd’s pie, but I needed extra snacks after that.

Some ghosts moan… luckily this one bakes.

Have you met Milemarker Jack? Drop a crumb and run—he loves snacks and loiters by lamplight.

The Lantern Man: Milemarker Jack’s Haunted Rest Stop Snack

Every roadside attraction has That Guy. Milemarker Jack is ours.

Make him yours too:

⚠️ If you leave snacks at Exit 14, don’t expect to get them back. He’s got a lantern. He’s got a limp. He’s got opinions about your trail mix.

🚙 Tap your brights twice at mile marker 14. If he flickers back… congrats, you’re in the club.

🍬 Leave him a sour gummy and a bad idea, and he just might follow you home.

Ghost: The Lantern Man (aka Milemarker Jack)
👻 Type: Emotional Echo (maybe?)
📍 Location: Milemarker Jack’s (aka Lost Fox Inn)
🍽️ Status: Haunted *and delicious.
🧃 Snack pairing: Trail mix + chicory coffee

Some say Jack was once a colonial guide, others claim he’s just a hangry hitchhiker who never left. Either way, he seems especially fond of peanut M&Ms and sour candy. (Respect.)

When the fog rolls in and the lantern flickers twice, it might be your cue to leave… or your invitation to snack.
